Creation of a custom hubot adapter fails

I've tried to create an adapter. for myself, but after following all steps from https://hubot.github.com/docs/adapters/development/ all I get is ERROR Cannot load adapter sample - Error: Cannot find module 'hubot-sample'

Please update the documentation.

You can see #804 about your problem. I think the document is really too old too.

Development has been updated for Javascript but I don't have much faith that we'll get the docs site updated with the latest version :(

Perhaps we can turn on pages for this repo and have a static site transform the Markdown files to HTML and start referring to that instead of the hubot.github.com site?
