Choosing the host to run the server on

Open Hbouaz opened this issue 3 years ago • 3 comments

Hi

I have a question:

I am not able to proxy server traffic through Charles as it is running on localhost. Charles workaround for machines where localhost traffic cannot be proxied is to use http://localhost.charlesproxy.com/ instead. Is it possible to start the server on http://localhost.charlesproxy.com/ instead of localhost?

Ref https://www.charlesproxy.com/documentation/faqs/localhost-traffic-doesnt-appear-in-charles/

I don't have any problem seeing the requests in Charles using the Simulator and Swifter as the server. @Hbouaz Can you elaborate more on your problem?

@Vkt0r thank you fir getting back to me. some systems it seems don't allow proxying of http://localhost/ so I can't see it on Charles. I tried the workaround mentioned here https://www.charlesproxy.com/documentation/faqs/localhost-traffic-doesnt-appear-in-charles/ by running a tiny server on http://localhost.charlesproxy.com/ instead of http://localhost and it showed up on Charles as http://localhost.charlesproxy.com/ So I was wondering if I can do something like that with Swifter by running it on localhost.charlesproxy.com instead of localhost which is essentially the same it just allows the traffic to be captured by Charles
