Issue when trying to update plex: cannot access '/etc/systemd/system/plexmediaserver.service.d': No such file or directory

The problem

When attempting to update plex, I get the following error:

AtoMiC Plex Media Server Update Script

plexmediaserver.service is now: inactive

AtoMiC FFmpeg Installer Script
Available Version: 4.0

Update not required
chown: cannot access '/etc/systemd/system/plexmediaserver.service.d': No such file or directory
Chown on  failed.

My Linux distribution and version is:

  • Ubuntu Desktop 16.04.4

I'm seeing this behaviour on:

  • First time trying to update plex. I have updated sonarr and radarr with the toolkit. I installed plex et al in March 2018.

I'm not sure what logs you are after, sorry!

I'm not a dummy, so I've checked these!

  • I'm using the latest version of AtoMiC-ToolKit. DONE
  • All my Linux distro packages are up to date and I don't see any errors while updating. DONE
  • I've checked there are no current open issues relating to my problem! DONE
