HiDPI on Linux

Open manuch54 opened this issue 6 years ago • 4 comments

Hello,

I'm sure I'm not the only one to have this problem. I use MoneyGuru on Linux (tested on Debian, Ubuntu, ArchLinux, Fedora, OpenSuse at least) on my computer which has an "HiDPI" display (227 dpi). On other systems, it looks great, but on every Linux distribution, I get standard display - understand too small display on text and icons.

I've searched for ways to fix this on Python, but it looks like it must be fixed inside the code itself. Do you have any intention to work on this ?

@manuch54 I'm not familiar with problems related to high definition displays, so know, it wasn't in my intentions to work on this. I would welcome a pull request though.

However, font size is configurable in moneyGuru and that should allow you to go a long way towards usability.

Thank you Virgil for your quick answer. As a matter of fact, I indeed tried to tune up the font size, but it keeps looking weird. The main problem resides in the menu which is not resizable, and also the icon sizes.

I must admit that this issue doesn't seem to be well handled on this kind of display. However, it is a huge tendency to get this kind of display. So one day or another, you'll have to deal with it, even for your own use.

Menu text size is set in system preferences I think.

OK, I'll go back and investigate. If I find something, I'll let you know.
