i want to get sqare roots? how do to?

suppose, i can't type square root symbol √ mostly, also what is abbreviation for this sqrt ? sqrt(16) doesn't to Anything!

@NormTurtle use the formula in this link: https://mathinsight.org/exponentiation_basic_rules so the square root of 1024 would be 1024^0.5.

While not ideal, using fractional exponents does work.
