decide on workflows for rev 0.1.0
Core elements are:
- fonts
- colors
- base ggplot2 theme
- base rmakdown theme
Fonts
- select fonts local (optionally converting OTF to TTF if possible)
- select fonts from google fonts
- select fonts from one other source we should try to find
Colors
Lots of orgs have color palette swatches. We can import those with swatches.
We shld let folks extend ^^ or just build a new color palette from color picker or typing in #XXYYZZ
No limits.
Perhaps also let build a continuous palette from selecting 3 colors
base ggplot2 theme
We need to make 4-6 plot themes for folks to pick from ranging from "pro" like hrbrthemes to lighter designs.
markdown themes
use 4-6 bootstrap themes and then use the fonts and colors from ^^
This looks great, here are my thoughts:
Fonts
- I think that this part is huge, as you mentioned dealing with fonts in R is hard.
- Do you have any opinions about the other font source? I know Fonts.com has an API but have never worked with it so it would need some checking out. I rely solely on Google Fonts so my experience here is limited.
Colors
- Swatches and limitless palette building made easy would be good, a lot of companies have marketing booklets with HEX codes included, so ease of creating color/fill/gradients etc would be big.
- Another aspect I want your opinion on would be "helping" with the color palette. My thought would be a palette reshuffle that makes a grid of sample plots with 6 different reshuffles of your palette to help with the order? Just a thought.
"Perhaps also let build a continuous palette from selecting 3 colors base ggplot2 theme" this would be a great option as well
I think the bootstrap piece would be good but again I am not too well versed in that realm but I am willing to learn as much as you are willing to teach! Also I wanted to know what you thought the key deliverables here are? Originally I thought of generating an R file of their company's branding but I think there is definitely more to offer!
I just recently came across this repository again and have some time. I might start putting together a base theme, or maybe start with color palettes. Possibly start with a primary and secondary where (if you don't have a swatch) you can input your palette.
