Per node test cmd variable

In lieu of a configuration option to run a script on each node and have to manually script a loop along with the test cmd, can we add a variable (e.g. test_cmd_per_node) or something that has the number of nodes set to 1 but everything else the same? This would allow for some improved measure of portability between schedulers.
