Linter for XML

The XML standard is common in many projects regardless of the programming language. This is often a "glue" that combines different technologies. I do not know Ruby, but I am convinced that there is a library for Ruby that will allow us to check the syntax and report problems.

We're actually not tied to Ruby when it comes to the actual linting of files. Is there a well-known linter/command that programmers use to lint XML files?
