Annoying dialog: "Choose an application to open the ext+container link"

In the last few weeks I have encountered a problem: when trying to open an URL in a container I am presented with a dialog "Choose an application to open the ext+container link". The dialog has a checkbox "Always use this application to open ext+container links" but the checkbox has no effect -- the dialog appears every time I am attempting to open "ext+container:name=MyContainer&url=https://mozilla.org" style URLs

I am using the add-on on Fedora Linux 34 with Firefox 89 (the problem appeared a couple of Firefox updates ago).
