Device model, version and app version

Model Name: MacBook Pro 14-inch, 2021 macOS Version: Sequoia 15.5 App Version: 2025.1264 Safari Version: 18.5 (20621.2.5.11.8)

(Latest stable software as of today)

Home Assistant Core Version

2025.6.3

(Latest stable software as of today)

Describe the bug

When adding a new Matter device, the macOS app is shown as available, but the app cannot complete the pairing.

To Reproduce

Settings > Integration > {Add Integration}. Pick "Add Matter Device", then "No. It's new."

Expected behaviour

Friendly error that says "You need to use the Home Assistant Companion app on your mobile phone to add Matter devices.", like when you do that in a browser

Actual behaviour

Brief Home Assistant logo flash, then thrown back to the Integrations screen

Additional context

The detection for the "You need to use the Home Assistant Companion App" message probably detects the macOS app as the companion app.
