Macbook App Cannot Scroll with Mouse or Cannot Copy text

Open aliilhami opened this issue 1 year ago • 7 comments

Device model, version and app version

Model Name: 13-inch, M1, 2020 macOS Version: macOS 14.2.1 App Version: 2023.12.1 (2023.508) Safari Version:

Home Assistant Core Version 2024.1.0

Describe the bug I am trying to use code editor, visual studio code, or any other editor on the Macbook Home Assistant app but the problem is whenever I try to scroll with my bluetooth mouse or copy&paste with my keyboard it does not work. Whenever I switch to the browser they all work.

To Reproduce

  1. Open the Macbook Home Assistant app
  2. Open any editor or text edit area
  3. Scroll with a bluetooth mouse (it won't work)
  4. Try to copy any text from the text editor, or try to paste any text into the editor via Cmd + C / V (it won't work)

Expected behavior I should be able to scroll on text editors with my bluetooth mouse or copy & paste to the text edit areas with my keyboard on Macbook app.

Home Assistant Companio App 2023.12.1 (2023.508) macOS 13.6.3 (22G436) macBook M1 Max Hardware Keyboard (NO Bluetooth Keyboard)

I have the same problem with copy/paste in any places to use text input. On my iPhone and/or iPad with both the latest iOS/iPadOS and Home Assistant Apps, I do not see that kind of copy&paste problems.

Unfortunately this is an Apple bug on webview when used in Mac Catalyst, tried some workarounds but didn't work reliably, this will probably only be solved after migrating the HA app to native macOS App, but no plans yet to do so in short term.

Is there any way that someone can open up an issue with Apple, then? Surely users of other apps using Mac Catalyst and web views probably want their copy, and paste, and scroll and scrolling fixed, too. Maybe passive HA users don't experience this problem, but I'm always running into it in using ESPHome, or the VS Code editor.

Other people already opened this issue with Apple but has been years and they didnt fix. Anyway, I opened another one (FB15119873) and I'll keep you posted

Scrolling dashboards and copying text had been working in macOS app for me until the last week.

In macOS HA Companion app, scrolled was working fine in dashboard views until the HAOS/App updates within the last week. So I do not believe this a duplicate of this issue, since had been working.

Scrolling still works in the same Dashboard views on iOS, and had been working in the macOS app on Sequoia until within the lat week.

//edit: BTW I use trackpad on Macbook
