After restore home assistant runs but I cannot access it through lovelace

Describe the issue you are experiencing
My machine brook down. So I installed home assistant on another machine. During onboarding I selected an existing full backup instead of new login. I did not get feedback but apperantly home assistant is running, I get notifications from some automations. The only problem is, I cannot acces it. If I try to connect via the usual url it says "loading data" and after a while "Unable to connect to home assistant retrying in ** seconds".
What can I do to reconnect to my home assistant??

I expected toe be able to continue working with home assistant after restoring a full backup
Steps to reproduce the issue
- make daily backup and store on google drive
- system failure on imac with Oracle VM virtualbox Not able to start imac
- install Oracle VM virtualbox with homassistant vdi on another machine
- during "onboarding" click from an excisting back-up restore etc ...
