Ring Integration Doesn't Show Any Devices

Open Tom-Enns opened this issue 2 years ago • 26 comments

The problem

I have added the ring integration as describe in this documentation https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/ring/ It adds correctly, I am able to log in with 2 factor and ring sends me a notification that something has logged into my account. I can see the integration in my home assistant however it does not have any devices. I have several door, window and motion sensors and I don't see any of them. I'm not able to find any documentation online stating a similar problem recently and it appears that the ring service is up and running.

Hey there @balloob, mind taking a look at this issue as it has been labeled with an integration (ring) you are listed as a code owner for? Thanks! (message by CodeOwnersMention)

Having the same issue on a original Raspberry Pi, fresh install using Docker. Account login all goes fine but no devices show up.

I'm having the same issue. My doorbell camera shows but none of my contact sensors sync in

my ring Alarm has been working for ages but now all my sensors are unavailable and I just cannot get them working

Same issue. Just installed hass yesterday. Can see the integration, login went fine through Ring, but can't see any devices.

viseshrp avatar Jun 30 '22 14:06 viseshrp

I have the same issue. Ring doorbell shows up fine but no ring alarm devices (door and window contact sensors, keypad, motion sensors) show up in home assistant via the ring integration. Bo errors shown that I can see and otherwise the integration and login seem fine. Is anyone looking at this or able to tell me when it may have worked before? I just added the ring alarm protion to my doorbell so I wouldn't know how long the alarm part has been broken for.

I have similar issues. Ring worked fine for ages, but not at all for the last month or two. I also get the account login confirmation when I set it up, but the devices are dead in HA. Running with all the latest HA software at the time of writing;

Camera appears to be working, but not the sensors.

Same issue over here unfortunately. I only have ring alarm devices and just bought them because I remember seeing some YT channels recommend them due to being able to use them for automations in HA. Logging into the integration went fine but not a single device or entity shows up in it.

Anyone find out why and how to fix it yet?

Unfortunately I have not. I hope someone is watching this thread and can solve it. I'm willing to contribute any information that I can to help. I'm not sure who would help solve this issue. I too bought into the ring protect because I saw others saying that it worked with home assistant automations also. I am still left waiting.

My ring alarm sensors all became unavailable after working fine for ages could not get it working. Then I installed a previous backup and they are all working fine now again

A previous build of home assistant? Do you know what version you rolled back to? I may just try and find the version you're running and wait honestly.

Sorry I don't know but I did update after and it's working fine again. At first I thought it was not working but the next day I opened the garage door and the light came on so I realised the sensors were working again. I am away at the moment and cannot even check which version it is now on but if you need any info regarding my setup I can get it for you when I'm back in 8 days time.

Have you had a chance to check what version you had to roll back to to get the ring devices to show up again?

weltern avatar Jul 28 '22 22:07 weltern

Damn. Been over a week. Latest version of hass and still zero ring devices showing up with the integration enabled. Tried reboots, reloads, enable, disable. Nothing

viseshrp avatar Aug 08 '22 22:08 viseshrp

My Ring integration has been working off and on for quite a while. Not working now. The base station/alarm used to be usable in HA GUI, but now says Unavailable. Nothing I can think of will get it to work. The contact sensor and motion sensor hasn't been seen in HA for a very long time. The only thing that was semi-reliable was the video doorbell, which also doesn't work - everything says Unavailable.

I can disable the integration and install it and log in to Ring through it, but it still won't see the devices - all still unavailable.

My Ring integration has stopped working again so i'm just adding zigbee sensors alongside the ring ones to use with HA.

I was able to get the Ring integration working by removing it and also removing Ring-MQTT with Video Streaming add-on. I reinstalled the Ring integration first and it worked OK. Then I reinstalled Ring-MQTT with Video Streaming and they are both working again.

rkhanso avatar Aug 25 '22 00:08 rkhanso

I couldn't get any of my sensors, keypads, etc to show up via the ring integration in HA but was able to see everything only using the Ring-MQTT with video streaming HA addon

still nothing apear in my interigation :(

Same problem here. Only see my cam with the ring integration.

When reading the docks, I'm not sure if contact sensors are supported, since the doc says "Currently, it supports doorbell, external chimes and stickup cameras"

Did anyone experienced the opposite?

I finally managed to import all my contact sensors via mqtt. See (https://github.com/tsightler/ring-mqtt)

This is still happening to me, but I found a temporary solution.

I installed Homebridge, then in Homebridge, I installed the Homebridge Ring plugin, which works normally. Then in Home Assistant, I added the "HomeKit Controller" integration (NOT just "HomeKit") and connected it to Homebridge. It has been working smoothly ever since.

This is also how I connected my Nest thermostat to HA without having to pay any money since there is a Nest plugin that works.

timothymhuang avatar Sep 24 '22 03:09 timothymhuang

I'm able to add Ring device following @timothymhuang steps (side question: does anyone knows which one is the event for ring alarm goes off?? ) I can see "Alarm siren turned on" and "Alarm triggered"

You, sir, are amazing! Thank you for sharing that workaround!

I finally managed to import all my contact sensors via mqtt. See (https://github.com/tsightler/ring-mqtt) doh - that fixed it! I just reinstated the token for ring-mqtt via the web UI and it worked again.
