Kostal Plenticore don't work with energy usage
The problem
Kostal Plenticore don't work with energy usage.
That’s caused by a bug in the integration providing the entity. Integrations need to configure their entities correctly so Home Assistant knows that we need to track statistics for it and how. https://developers.home-assistant.io/docs/core/entity/sensor#long-term-statistics.
What version of Home Assistant Core has the issue?
core-2022.2.8
What was the last working version of Home Assistant Core?

Hey there @stegm, mind taking a look at this issue as it has been labeled with an integration (kostal_plenticore) you are listed as a code owner for? Thanks!

Same here Would be really great to see the implementation for the Energy Usage - would make really sense
Thanks in advance and for your WORK

Hi cgmaier, it works correctly. You must activate the required sensors in the kostal intergration. just activate it and have fun.
Hello Tobias
I had a look on the Sensors. I don't know, what would make more sense than "AC Power" and/or "Grid Power" - but those Entities are not able to be used for the Energy Usage
What entity do you use?
THX Christoph

you must go to the kostal integration, in the integration you must activate the relevant and deactivated sensors.
for grid usage ###_Home consumption from grid total ###_Energy Discharge to grid total
for battery usage (if you have a battery) ###_battery charge from pv total ###_home consumption from battery total
for solar production (depends on how many strings you are using) ###_energy pv1 total ###_energy pv2 total
Like that ? May be you can add screenshot for help ?
thx for your feeeeedback
I now have the values for my Solar panel
Maybe you could add this in your description to help all other Kostal users
THX for your response!!!

Hello @cgmainer,
It work for you ? I don't have the same value

As I have no battery I only see the SolarPower actually
Don’t forget that you see kWh in HA and not the actual W

Ok and it's a cumulative vs live mesure ?
yes that’s the way. it will take some time to see the first data. the data you will see are not the real-time data these data’s are history data. so therefore don’t compare them with the real time data from kostal
Ok and it's a cumulative vs live mesure ?
yes
if you like to see the real time data, just add these sensors to a dashboard.

I am not the developer of this integration. But I had the same challenge like you guys.
I thought all the time, I want to see current power in W thats why I never imagined to enable the totals! I now enabled them and the energy dashboard is working. Except sensor.scb_energy_discharge_to_grid_total. It has a value of only 0.4 kwh but I already discharged 5.6 kwh. Any ideas where the problem might be?

actually it looks like all values are way off?!

don’t know what do you mean??
the home assistant energy management is using exactly the same data. But the energy management integration is not real time. it updates his values every xxx minutes. (don’t now how often… 15 or 30 minutes) AND logging is starting at point in time when you defined the sensors in the integration. means you cannot compare the data from today.
you should compare the data tomorrow and after 24 hours.
Hello All,
Which value is the top left one? If I pick "Photovoltaic Solar Power" I get what is used by the house (lower right)...
Hey guys, could someone please tell me where to find these Values "Energy Discharge to grid total"??? Is it within the integration of Home Assistant or is it somwhere else? I am using latest Home Assistant Version (2022.4.1), but can't find these values ... they would be VERY helpful for me.
Thanks in advance
you must go to the kostal integration, in the integration you must activate the relevant and deactivated sensors.
for grid usage ###_Home consumption from grid total <-- This one I have ###_Energy Discharge to grid total <-- This one I can't find
for battery usage (if you have a battery) ###_battery charge from pv total <-- This one I can't find ###_home consumption from battery total <-- This one I have
for solar production (depends on how many strings you are using) ###_energy pv1 total <-- This one I have ###_energy pv2 total <-- This one I have
These are the values I cannot find ... I activated ALL possible values, but these above marked are not there. No clue why ... I just deleted and added the integration again in case i had an old version, but nothing changed :-/
i can find ###_Energy Discharge to grid total, but no value is given at all.
Uhm ... maybe I am looking at the wrong place? Because none of the values I can see has any ### at the beginning... I'll put a screenshot.

@cgmainer : Well, where exactly can I find these values? You can see my screenshot, all values are listed in order, so if they were there, they would be shown there - as long as I am looking at the right place. So, if I want them to be visible, there must be another place to look for them. Where is that other place? Do I need to edit a file or something?
Thanks for your help :-)
/€: Just updated my docker Home-Assistant from 2022.4.1 to Version 2022.4.2 and these values are still missing. Since I have seen screenshots with these values visible, my guess is these values are not available in docker version... is this possible?

Hello there,
I have a plenticore 8.5 plus with a battery connected, new version of home assistant (2022.4.2) and I cannot find the missing values either. Of the mentioned sensors I have only Home consumption from grid total and Home consumption from battery total.
I have enabled all disabled sensors which brings me to a total of 51 sensors for this integration, most of them are different forms of consumption in day/month/year/total time frames.
If I can do anything to help debug this, let me know, I would be glad to help

I have exactly the same inverter (since yesterday) and it shows those values. You might check if a firmware update of your Plenticore helps?

@N3rdix Thanks, that was the issue. After updating the firmware of the plenticore, I get 76 entities shown up at the integration. Now everything works as it should :-)
