This is the default frost protection minimal temperature.

erwindouna avatar May 13 '25 05:05 erwindouna

Is there any way to change this?

ylnest2018 avatar May 13 '25 05:05 ylnest2018

It has been requested to put in the frost temperature protection: https://github.com/home-assistant/core/pull/135480#discussion_r1957389318, during development. Why would you need a lower temperature than the current 5 degrees Celsius? 😃

erwindouna avatar May 13 '25 06:05 erwindouna

I don’t want it to be less than 5 I want it to be set to the last temperature I set it to.

Think of what this replaces in most cases, a split system AC Unit, if you press power off/on it remembers it’s last state it was set to, with the temperature displayed as that temperature. This is the logic I was going with

ylnest2018 avatar May 13 '25 06:05 ylnest2018

I see your point now - personally I don't use the "off" state, since I only use thermostats myself. It would be more convenient for an AC to remember it's previous state. Maybe I can make it so that if the last state is below the frost protection, it will only put on the minimum, else it should just remember your last state (i.e. 19 degrees Celsius).

erwindouna avatar May 13 '25 06:05 erwindouna

I’m getting a bit confused about being ‘below frost protection’ 19c is warmer than 5c im sorry if im not getting it just confused 😅

ylnest2018 avatar May 13 '25 08:05 ylnest2018

Any plans to fix this situation? This arbitrary 5 degrees setup when turning off makes graphs unreadable as it goes from 5 to 20/30degrees with then a too big amplitude. It’s also very confusing as for a while I was really wondering were it comes from and for what reason. No chance to get back to previous situation?

barthelb avatar Jun 14 '25 21:06 barthelb

I also completely agree that the 5 degrees setting is annoying and doesn't make sense: it makes graphs unreadable and it's unlike every other climate implementation I have seen in HA integrations. It should stay to the last set temperature or, if impossible, match the current temperature. @erwindouna Any plan to reconsider this?

Maybe I can make it so that if the last state is below the frost protection, it will only put on the minimum, else it should just remember your last state (i.e. 19 degrees Celsius).

This would be perfect :)

Still unresolved. @erwindouna please consider changing behaviour as you suggested here: https://github.com/home-assistant/core/issues/144782#issuecomment-2875244396 Thanks! 🙏🏻
