Unifi firmware update status not accurate

Open mattdevo1 opened this issue 1 year ago • 1 comments

The problem

The firmware status in Home Assistant for some of my components are showing "Up-to-date" when they definitely have updates pending in the Unifi UI.

It has worked in the past for me, I'm not exactly sure when it broke, but it may have been when updating to Unifi OS 4.0.

Screenshots below as an example: Screenshot 2024-10-12 at 11 48 50 AM Screenshot 2024-10-12 at 11 48 37 AM

There hasn't been any activity on this issue recently. Due to the high number of incoming GitHub notifications, we have to clean some of the old issues, as many of them have already been resolved with the latest updates. Please make sure to update to the latest Home Assistant version and check if that solves the issue. This is still an issue as of HA 2025.1.4 and Unifi OS 4.1.13 (the latest for both as of today).

Any thoughts @Kane610?

Still an issue in 2025.2.3...

Still an issue in 2025.3.1...

@Kane610 It might be better to remove this feature if it's too difficult to fix. I know there have been other changes to the Unifi integration recently.

Hello, it looks ok to me, if you can share debug logs I can have a look at the examples you are suggesting does not work for you

Sorry for my slow reply...my Unifi system was up to date, so I had nothing to test with.

But I'm seeing a UDM Pro update now, which seems to have the same issue. I wonder if it's specifically isolated to UDM Pro updates (any not necessarily updates for hardware devices like in your screenshot above?). I don't have any hardware updates right now, so I can't verify that at the moment.

Here's the latest I'm seeing on my end...

Update showing in the Unifi console:

No update showing through the HA integration: Image

This is still not working as of 2025.7.2

It looks like this problem is isolated to Dream Machine update status (or maybe UniFi software in General?) as I can see firmware updates available in home assistant.

Hi, I have the same issue in 2025.9.3. In Unifi Network Application at the moment for two of my switches updates are available. Home Assistant shows that the firmwares are up to date. When I open the entity it even shows:

  • Installed version: 7.2.120.16556
  • Latest version: 7.1.26.15869

Please let me know what kind of data I shall provide to support.

Still not working for me either. I gave up on using this feature.

mattdevo1 avatar Sep 18 '25 12:09 mattdevo1

Without any changes (no software updates), neither on my Unifi setup nor on Home Assistant, today suddenly in Home Assistant I got the notification that for one of my switches a firmware update is available. For my second switch there is also a firmware update available, but for that I get no notification in Home Assistant.

Home Assistant: 2025.9.4

On my Unifi Cloud Key: UniFi OS 4.4.2 Network 9.4.19
