Google Assistant integration card missing in Devices & Integrations

Open coling opened this issue 5 months ago • 9 comments

The problem

Since upgrading to 2024.08.x * (and through to latest as of a few days ago), I can no longer see my Google Assistant card under Settings -> Devices & Integrations.

It was present under version 2024.07.x.

The integration itself (as configured in configuration.yaml) is working and present, just cannot see the card (and thus it's tricky to enable debug logging etc.).

Note that I can still technically access the card via the direct URL /config/integrations/integration/google_assistant

Nothing relevant in the logs that I can see.

Any reason why this would be missing?

Additional information

I'm using the direct (i.e. self hosted) Google Assistant integration.

Technically my Google Assistant did crash out after upgrade and was quite flakey before. I've since debugged the flakeyness to DNS issues (I had a hosted DNS then a subdomain deligated to duckdns via a CNAME which resulted in multiple DNS lookups at the Google side when talking to my HA instance. I used duckdns to allow me to setup Lets Encrypt via DNS auth, but switching my whole DNS to cloudflare seems to have solved that issue.

Another issue was that I couldn't connect my test Action in Google Home App after unlinking to try and reset things. The process would start but then after the auth stage it would just bail out and say it couldn't be done. In the end I made this work by connecting via a new home I created. In hindsight it could have just been the DNS issues which caused this. Anyway, it's connected and working now, just can't see the card.

I noticed someone else in one of the Facebook communities also reported this but after a few upgrade it persists so figured it was work an issue report. Hopefully I've not missed any reason for why this would disappear.
