Area missing in device controls settings
Home Assistant Android app version(s):
Android version(s): 16
Device model(s): Samsung S24
Home Assistant version: 2025.12.1
Last working Home Assistant release (if known):
Description of problem, include YAML if issue is related to notifications: In the companion app there is a section enhetskontroll (device control in English?) that is missing the labels/areas. This makes it quite confusing if multiple devices charge the same name.
Companion App Logs: N/A
Screenshot or video of problem: Download the app and add device with area. Check companion app and see if the names have an area.
Additional information:
The actual device controls UI does show the area - but not the label as there is no place for the system to support that info. Example (the area name is "Beneden"):
Is that what you would expect and the only issue the UI to configure locked device controls? (I fully understand it being confusing, but that isn't during daily use.)
Is it a setting to activate the area? I have like living room, kitchen etc but only info I see is the type of entity like light, switch etc. This is before making the actual widget etc. Kind of difficult to select which light to use if I have 4 named ceiling but in different areas.
When adding device controls it'll also show the area, similar to my screenshot. Open device controls from your notification drawer and tap the option to add an app/controls.
Still can't get it to work. I can see it in some cases add a label to the widget but when I select the entity there is no indication of area. The label it adds is just the name of the entity not the area.
Here is some photos:
Expected it to show something like home assistant does it:
Another "issue" I found is that my profile is set to English (everything is in English) except fot the companion app settings. Is that not odd that it is bound to the system instead of the settings of my profile? I know there is a separate setting for language but any reason not to use the user defined setting?
Your screenshots are not actually the device controls though - the first screenshot is app configuration, and the second/third one are button widgets which are unrelated. Point taken about improving the selection of entities, but it's two different parts now.
Yeah sorry.
