The application crashes on startup on the vehicle's main device

Home Assistant Android app version(s): 2025.11.2

Android version(s): Android 9.0

Device model(s): Vehicle's main device on Geely Monjaro / Geely Xingyue L / Geely KX11.

Home Assistant version: Core 2025.10.3 / Supervisor 2025.11.2 / Operating System 16.3 / Frontend 20251001.4

Last working Home Assistant release (if known): Unknown

Description of problem, include YAML if issue is related to notifications: I am trying to launch the Home Assistant app on the vehicle's main device, and after installation, the app immediately closes upon startup without any errors. Reopening or rebooting does not resolve the issue. The device lacks Google services, so the app was installed from APK files from the official GitHub branch (I tried Minimal and Full versions) as well as from the F-Droid store. The problem is the same in all cases. The app was never installed on this device before; this is the first installation. I have never encountered a similar issue with other applications on this device. It is possible that this is somehow related to the fact that the processor module has four independent screens as peripherals, one of which is a projection screen. Additionally, the screens have an unconventional aspect ratio, but this does not interfere with other applications.

Are you trying to install the Automotive version of the app? Android Automotive generally doesn't allow side loading on real devices.

I tried installing both the automotive and regular versions. The regular versions install successfully, but crash immediately upon launch. The automotive versions do not install at all, giving a "package syntax error" during installation. I’m not sure if I need the automotive version since, to my understanding, it is intended for Android with reduced functionality. On my device, standard APKs like Google Chrome, Netflix/Plex, Telegram, VLC Player, etc., install without issues and good work, but only Home Assistant doesn’t work this way.

I'm a bit confused about your device (car?) to be honest, and trying 4-5 different apks doesn't help.

If you say it is a normal Android release, not automotive, and doesn't have Play Services, you should install the normal (app) apk for minimal: https://github.com/home-assistant/android/releases/download/2025.11.2/app-minimal-release.apk.

Are you able to use adb to get logs by any chance?

The app immediately closes upon startup - is that before logging in, or can you login once and does it not start after that? Do you see anything other than the Home Assistant logo?

Yes, that's correct. As I mentioned above, I tried installing both the regular versions (full and minimal), as well as the automotive version and the one you specified (.../2025.11.2/app-minimal-release.apk).

The automotive versions do not install, giving an "error parsing package" during installation. The regular versions (both full and minimal) do install, but upon launch, the logo appears for about one second, then the app closes.

It closes almost immediately, before the login screen. I haven't been able to log in even once. No, besides the Home Assistant logo, I don't see anything else.

I am willing to collect logs for you via ADB, but I will need a step-by-step instruction on how to do it and which commands' output you are interested in. I have ADB directly configured and available.
