No toolbar on iPadOS

Hi, I am running iPadOS 18.5 and a-Shell (both mini and full) doesn't show a toolbar out of the box.

I have run config -t for good measure and it did nothing. I have no hardware keyboard plugged in.

Sometimes my brain is just not using the right synapses and I can't add 2+2, so let me know if there's anything blatantly obvious I am missing here.

I managed to somehow make it appear, I changed "Toolbar color:" in the app's setting to "system settings". There is definitely some bizarre buglet whereby the default settings doesn't make the toolbar show up on a fresh install of the app on iPadOS (this didn't happen on my iPhone).
