Hi, yes it is not possible to install scipy in Carnets (or any package that requires compiling a C component). Porting it is also not easy, but it will come.

I'd like to second this request. As an astronomer scipy can be a very useful package for me.

Have you been able to make any progress on this?

So, the plan for the next few months is:

  • upgrade Python to version 3.9 and all the packages to their latest version (I'm about halfway through).
  • release the new version. It will be an iOS 14+ only release, because some functions on the Python3.9 source code are only available from the iOS 14 SDK.
  • add multiple windows, background work and jupyterlab (relatively easy, but important)
  • add scipy (huge and scary, but important too).

For several reasons, including its size, the plan is to have scipy as a separate app, that will not be free.

Okay, thanks for the update. I'll be happy to pay a couple bucks for scipy support. Looking forward to it.
