Large Heatmaps default to filling with white (later found this was text) with no documented way to turn off

Documentation does not indicate that an empty value for 'fmt' stops it filling hi resolution heat maps with text. I found 'format' null in C++ code, stopped it and tried some guesses in Python. I was using the heatmap for spectrograms, so the text was a bit unexpected.
