simplify InsertHistory

The history implements a simple least-recently-used (LRU) lookup scheme. This simplifies the logic. The wrappers and "time" are not needed.

Removing non-existent custom components does not seem to work.

I've fixed it. I forgot to remove the component from the toolbar.
