Play a song without opening the App

I have just installed this on Mac and I have the following behaviour. When I use the play command it plays the correct song, however, it opens the spotify app and puts it into focus. This occurs when I have it on another screen, it is minimised and all other situations. Would it be possible to execute the command without putting the gui app into focus?

Unfortunately not. It is a really annoying issue and I can't seem to figure out what behaiviour causes this as pausing or playing the next song doesn't seem to call the gui app.

i found this: https://github.com/aome510/spotify-player but it looks I have to wait a bit for the search function from cli to be able to play the song, like in the readme, it looks merged to master, but not yet released.
