Check signature

I can not find anything about the signature in the beacon and I was saddened when I saw that you do not do anything with the signature. . Did you chose not to use the signature or are you equally perplexed?

I didn't see anything about it in the API documentation. Let me know if you have a suggested behavior.

Doh!. The response I was hoping for was "I chose to ignore it, but you can read all about it here: ____."

The documentation does say "Each such value is time-stamped and signed, and includes the hash of the previous value to chain the sequence of values together." but (unless I missed it) it doesn't share which hash function is used to produce the value.
