losing fishing rod

I'm not quite sure if this is just an issue with my PC, but when I'm running the auto fisher for an extended period, my fishing rod sometimes goes missing (I have mending on them) without a trace. Again I'm not sure if it's related to the script, but I'd like to know if others experienced something similar.

Are you wearing a full set of mending gear? Not sure how long it would take but I have noticed my mending rod will slowly degrade if I am wearing too much gear with mending. Another things is to try putting the rod in your off hand. If you get the game in focus and hit the throw key, Q normally, you will definitely lose your rod if it is in your main hand.
