Did you get anywhere with this?

oh yes, I did! The implementation is still flaky because I didn't have much time for it so I stopped when I got to "works well enough for me since I know all the quirks". F5 adds a new cursor searching based on the current selection, or in the next line if there's nothing selected.

Cool :) Just gave it a go; a little clunky but works okay.

Would it be possible to make it the default keyboard shortcut for Ctrl+d?
