Barred 7?
I don't have a copy of ISO3098 handy, but I'm pretty sure the 7 should be barred.
https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:ISO3098.svg I can see two different sevens...
I also would like the barred 7.
Both are in the norm and which to chose is up to the "national bodies"
Every letter in the norm has a Identifier, for "7" it is 208 and 209:
and:
Germany and Austria use 208, of what I know, saw and learned in school. But I have seen drawings from teachers where both are used. I personally like 208 more. ps.: Yes the pictures are screenshots of screenshots
Hi Tobias
hmm, I just had a look into the osifont.sfd with FontForge. At 208 and 209, I cannot find the "7", but instead there is Ð
and Ñ
.
Yesterday I tried to draw the barred "7" myself and the plan was then to make a pull request. However, no chance - this FontForge Editor is too complicated and I am not familiar enough with the typographic rules, so I couldn't draw a proper barred "7".
Sorry if I caused for misunderstanding, the Identifier in the Norm and the Identifier in the Font are two different numbers. One is the UTF-8(ASCII) ID for a letter, U+0037 for "7", and the other one is the Identifier in the Norm for different symbols, 208 and 209 for the different "7", 001/00 for "A", 001/05 for "Ä" and 101/00 for "a". So 208 and 209 are ID'S for the different "7" symbols and not for placement in the Font and I have written it in here because in my opinion it is easier to talk about 208 and 209, than talking about barred and not barred, I for example needed to look up what barred 7 meant.
As mentionned in the ISO 3098 " The Choice Between these characters is left to the national bodies"
But in a Font File as the 7 can only be associated to one glyphe the conceptor need to make a choice. But in my case the Barred 7 is my choice and as "first" character definition it could be a reasonable choice :
Hi, it appears you made your own "7" as specified. Could you share your glyph?
I made a fork of this repo: https://github.com/tcpluess/osifont you could create a PR there, so we don't mess with the original osifont.
Hello,
Unfortunatly my own Font definition is not based on this Project so I cannot make just a basic PR. But you can find herewith an export of this Glypht. You can import the file and make a scale of 118% to use it into this font file.
