I feel like opening up the groups should be ideal for now! We could also add an identifier to the groups itself, that groups contain a nested search. @jay-khatri

Also I'd make the icons on hover overlay the text in that case. (Regarding the first task) Longterm we could do something slack-like where we add some offset to the icons, to not block some of the content.
