[FR] prompt for root access when connecting in vpn mode

Feature description

right now the application must be ran in sudo mood for the vpn mode to work, it might be better to run the app in user mode and then ask for root permission only when connecting in tunnel mode. using something like pkexec mode.

I'm not experienced in this field, but I'd love to work on this feature and see if I can make it work, if it's ok with the maintainers.
