Offer allowing to just let the user draw out a simple rectangle. https://imagemagick.org/script/import.php does a great job. The current "Map area" step is overly complicated. The window keeps changing while the user is trying to finalize the area he wants. And even though there is a Next button, the user expects some Done button within the map.

I am not too happy about the selection either, but at the time I took over on this project the locationfilter plugin was the least bad fit, and the original selection process was even less intuitive.
