I tried to install using brew but got:

Same problem here. Mac OSX High Sierra 10.13.6 Installed succesfully other programs using brew cask

I got a broken install running brew cask install smcfancontrol --no-quarantine but that resulted in an installation that didn't let me control fan speeds and would repeatedly ask for the admin password.

Installing by extracting the zip and click + drag works as expected.

This seems fixed...? Normal installation over Cask using brew cask install smcfancontrol on a macOS 10.14.3 machine, works flawlessly.
