HTTP client errors on NodeMCU SDK 2.0

The latest released version of the NodeMCU firmware apparently has an issue with https requests, rendering it non-functional for this project since SmartThings API is https-only. See related issue: https://github.com/nodemcu/nodemcu-firmware/issues/1707

In the meantime I suggest using the 1.5.4.1 firmware release. I have uploaded a suitable build here: https://github.com/heythisisnate/nodemcu-smartthings-sensors/blob/master/firmware/nodemcu-master-9-modules-2017-01-15-08-48-34-integer.bin
