This is intentional as a way to visualize the used percentage of all disks without requiring extra space.

I agree that it can look a little strange and lead to confusion. Maybe we'll try a different layout, like layering them behind with less opacity. If that doesn't work we'll probably go back to how it was before.

Yes, I'm not a fan of overlapping either; it somehow doesn't look intentional, even though it is.

Indeed this new display looks confusing and visually cluttered IMO.

I for one like it a lot. Shows me that one disk is almost full at a glance, and if I want to know more I can hover over to see which one.

Maybe there could be a switch added in the settings to enable the extended disk view and otherwise the consolidated view is displayed?

Here's what I'm thinking for the next release. Meter value reverts to root. Extra disks are shown as bubbles within the meter:

This looks... unconventional, albeit space-savingly practical to my eyes.

I don't dislike it!

And what happens if root is in the red and the other disks are also in the red? Wouldn't in that case result in a solid red color? Also how many other drives can be shown in that setup? Looks like 6 total, maybe 8 max?

@xsidexpt The dots have a small outline to make them visible. Right now the bar just becomes longer if you have lots of disks. Maybe I'll change to show three dots max, one for each color, if you have a disk in that range.

This has been changed now in 0.17.0. Let me know if it looks any better or worse 👍

I personally prefer the previous look, but I do really like the pop out window for a more detailed view.

Visually this new update is a clear improvement and much better than the previous as at a glance the old version always looked to me like it was glitched with overlapping bars. The popup now is terrific and I wouldn't change a thing there. As for the little dots I think they do the job of conveying that there is something more to see there, but at a glance they provide only a little information. Tried to think of a better suggestion to make to replace them but couldn't come up with anything, but I get the feeling there might be a better way 😅

Exactly my thoughts @xsidexpt !

Really disagree here. Now I see a yellow bar with a tiny red dot on the side and nothing else? Like I don't even know what's going on here anymore visually. Maybe it works better if your root disk isn't as full. Before I had a rough overview of all my disks. Seem just worse to me. It's a really minor thing in general though..

And the hover pop up was there before you guys. I do agree that one is still great.

New // Old

Edit: Having thought about it some more I do now see the advantage of having root be the big main bar. Realistically the hover is enough for me so I don't actually mind either way.

I like the visibility of all the disk on the main page better. Maybe have an option to enable/ disable using an environment variable in the compose file?
