I use the card player feature extensively to drill for listening and speaking practice for my language study. Frequently, and for no cause I can discover, the card player simply stops; once I turn my screen back on (and go past the security login), the card player continues playing normally (without prompting it to play again). It appears that, as long as the screen is on, this playback stoppage does not occur. I turned off screen rotation (which for some reason stops playback), but that has no impact. I’d say about 70% of the time, card player, even with the screen turned off, works flawlessly. The other times, as I said, it stops randomly. It’s very disruptive.

Starting the card player triggers a system alert sound (once). That alert tone is also triggered when the screen is rotated. I see no purpose for this, and there is no provision for disabling this behavior.

After my recent system upgrade, there are now two TTS French voices on my system. A female one appears first in the list, followed by a male one. I prefer the male voice, and have changed the setting to it. However, AnyMemo now plays only the female voice (which I decidedly do not like). Apparently, AnyMemo goes for the first voice in the list, whether it is selected in settings or not. As the only option for TTS in AnyMemo is for the language itself (rather than being able to also choose a voice), I am now stuck with the female voice.
