Make USB scanners "just work"

E.g., ID 04a9:221c Canon, Inc. CanoScan LiDE 60 is known to work with Xsane on Linux.

But on helloSystem we only get

Why?

These things need to work without the user having to "fiddle around".

When running xsane as root:

  1. A permissions issue (how to fix?)
  2. Some other issue
