Unable to authorize connection to Inoreader

Open loucasal opened this issue 3 years ago • 6 comments

Describe the bug I am unable to authorize Inoreader using Raven's appimage and snap packages.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behaviour (Firefox):

  1. Raven: Preferences > Sync Account > Inoreader > Connect
  2. Click on Authorize
  3. Nothing happens. The console displays the following message: "Prevented navigation to “[oauth2 URL]” due to an unknown protocol. (NB: No separate file type is listed for Raven in Firefox's settings under General > Applications)

Steps to reproduce the behaviour (Chromium):

  1. Raven: Preferences > Sync Account > Inoreader > Connect
  2. Click on Authorize
  3. Click on "Open xdg-open".
  4. The Open With... dialog returns the following message: "No apps installed that can open “[oauth2 URL]”. You can find more applications in Software

Expected behaviour After clicking on Authorize, the browser should navigate back to Raven Reader.

Desktop (please complete the following information):

  • OS: Ubuntu 20.04
  • Browser: Firefox 90 (Ubuntu version), Chromium 92
  • Version: 1.0.64

Additional context I found no relevant information in my Raven logs. I have encountered similar issues with other appimages/snaps in the past: using a deb package usually allows me to work around the issue, but Raven does not provide one.

Confirming the problem

Found a workaround for normal installation from https://newbedev.com/how-do-i-set-a-new-xdg-open-setting run xdg-mime default raven-reader.desktop x-scheme-handler/ravenreader which sets ravenreader:// MIME to be opened in Raven Reader.

I do not know if it will work for AppImages

I can confirm the problem and the work-around above didn't work for me. I tried it both with a Snap package and installing from the AUR.
