background mode stopped working in Fedora 24

Ok, I'm the guy that submitted it, but I've spent a day trying to debug it, and I'm hoping someone will have some ideas. What happens is that second PDF is rotated right before merging. If I rotate the first PDF right, the second is still rotated an additional 90°. I've tried copying f22 PyPDF2, but it still does the same thing.

Both input PDFs show normal portrait orientation on their own.

Verbose output shows the expected files and rotations. It is the merge operation itself that is doing it.

Ok, I "printed" the overlay pdf to a new pdf, and that doesn't get rotated. Not sure what's up with that. Now, the white background of the data printout is opaque. So the underlay is there, but hidden. (There are probably applications for that...)

hrm... I don't know... That sounds really weird indeed. I'll try to see whats up next time I can work on stapler...
