Problem with UI and audio in vital

Open TunirWilliams opened this issue 3 years ago • 3 comments

After loading up vital, when I try to open Vital's UI, the entire app freezes and shuts down. On reopening, the project Vital doesn't play a single note( on further inspection vital's audio routing shows no audio output ports ).

Note: Issue seems to be very particular to Vital and Vitalium in particular and hasn't caused any problem with others like Zyn Fusion and Surge. I'm using manjaro and Jack and the problem is visible in all the builds: AUR, Appimage and binary.

falkTX's JACK-MIDI utility JackAss: https://github.com/falkTX/JackAss/ provides a jack-midi port that allows one to route the midi output, so this method works sufficiently well for me.

For me, the primary problem is that Helio hangs when I try to open Vital. When I try to use JackAss, it has only audio ports and not midi ports

Add JackASS to orchestra pit. open up qjackctl or cadence or whatever jack patchbay option you use. You'll find a JACKAss-Helio midi port there. Now open up vital or anything else as required and route this jackass-helio port there.
