incorrect rendering of japanese characters

Open guiv42 opened this issue 1 year ago • 10 comments

In SWT configuration

I don't know anything about Japanese, however the graphical rendering of strings clearly looks incorrect. As an example, see the rendering of "effect" string in edit toolbar: toolbar_ja

and how the term "effects" appears in a text editor: effects

After a quick search on the Internet, it seems related to the alphabet used:

  • kanjis are OK (example: "duration" )
  • katanas are KO (example: "effects")

problem present in 1.6.0, so before converting translation files encoding to utf-8. I cannot test with previous versions, but I would not be surprised if problem was already present before (same rendering with 2.0beta fork)

It does not seem it's a TuxGuitar issue. I've created manually an UTF-8 encoded text file, then added 2 strings. Japanese string is also badly displayed when opening text file with Eclipse: eclipse

in my text editor: kate

Yet only tested in Linux

JFX configuration

Chinese, Japanese and Korean characters are not rendered at all, just see the main toolbar: jfx_toolbar
