IDEA: Universal Script Installer

This is an incredibly useful toolset, that's made more useful the more applications it's connected to. Unfortunately, installing it with more than 2 applications becomes a bit of a headache - especially if you update the scripts or the host applications.

It would be great if someone could develop a cross-platform universal script installer with a GUI. I've created a mockup of the dialog:

Each application would have a preset list of paths to check to see if it's installed. If it's not auto-detected, the user can manually enter the filepath.

Open Questions

• How do you deal with Multiple version of the host application?
• Do you install for just this user, or for all users?
• How do you store and check the version number of the installed script to see if it needs to be updated?

I'd agree that it could certainly help, but unfortunately, is out of scope for myself to do, I don't find it THAT hard to update (especially since there haven't been that many updates), but again, i can see it as being helpful.
