Stronger Rumble than Real Hardware

Open Sonen10 opened this issue 9 months ago • 4 comments

Something that I noticed after a short bit of playing Unleashed Recompiled is how strangely strong the rumble was. With some further testing, I noticed that Xenia's default input mode matched closer to real Xbox 360 hardware compared to the Recomp's output. Trying both SDL and Xinput modes in Xenia and neither affected the rumble's strength the way the Recomp seems to have.

I trialed within Windmill Isle Act 1 by performing actions that would trigger a rumble reaction, including boosting, bouncing on a spring, running on dash panels, and jumping on the breakable pots before the first homing attack target.

Might be related to this line multiplying the rumble by 256 for some reason when Xenia doesn't do that: https://github.com/hedge-dev/UnleashedRecomp/blob/main/UnleashedRecomp/hid/driver/sdl_hid.cpp#L141

Please try builds from here and compare with the real hardware: https://github.com/hedge-dev/UnleashedRecomp/actions/runs/14265059687?pr=1513

The rumble in the linked build is closer to real Xbox 360 hardware than previous builds from my testing.

can reliably reproduce on 1.0.3 with both of my DualShock 3 controllers.
