At around 20 mins into the stage, the game decided to freeze, then have it not respond anymore. And I was at a skydive section.

Please provide a crash dump from %LOCALAPPDATA%\CrashDumps (it will have a *.dmp extension).
Worth nothing on this exact part, even on strong systems, you usually get a very big stutter, so it's likely related to some mass loading of the object layout happening here.

I went back into the stage and had my game crash at a different location but around the same time as the last.
Try a RelWithDebInfo build and see if you can gather anything of interest from the terminal or the CrashDumps folder.
