Plugin fails to load after update to gmusicapi 8.0.0

I'm seeing the following error after upgrading:

Any suggestions as to how to get this working again? Help would be greatly appreciated.

This continues to be an issue after uninstalling gmusicapi and installing 7.0.1.dev0, the version which worked before.

Here's the journal of attempts I went through last summer. Resolution seemed to come from disabling and then enabling SSL. I hope there's something there you can use. https://github.com/hechtus/squeezebox-googlemusic/issues/85

No logged-in message. The plugin simply fails to load and the errors I listed above are logged. Unfortunately, as the plugin fails to load, I am unable to toggle SSL. Can this be achieved by editing a config file somewhere?

After installing debian jessie on my Raspberry Pi 2 and trying to get this plugin working, I see the following errors logged:
