It's pretty weird, the controls.play() isn't working. But it works when I press play button on the control bar.

Anything going on in permissions? What version of Safari? What version of iOS/MacOs?

It happened on iOS 9.3.1, both Safari & Chrome. It's easy to reproduce using the origin player with param: http://player.elevr.com/?autoplay=1.

iOS Safari has a limitation for playing media: there must have been a user interaction on the webpage that plays the media. So Autoplay is impossible.
