I installed using the documentation, start the addon and get the following:

ERROR 2005 (HY000): Unknown server host 'core-mariadb' (-2) s6-rc: warning: unable to start service init-phpmyadmin: command exited 1 /run/s6/basedir/scripts/rc.init: warning: s6-rc failed to properly bring all the services up! Check your logs (in /run/uncaught-logs/current if you have in-container logging) for more information.

Do I manually have to change something, somewhere?

ERROR 2005 (HY000): Unknown server host 'core-mariadb' (-2)

It generally means the MariaDB add-on isn't running.
