I have a couple of very large wordlist that have be compiled that I have scripts to update and would like to update them in place.
I've done it manually right now and then run the Rescan Global Wordlist option in the settings menu. I would like to see if this can be added an checkbox to do it automatically if the sizes are different and/or added into the api so that I can do a POST to tell it to rescan after an update.
potential implementation could include making a xxhash of the files on a regular basis based on a user-input. If a difference occurs between the master and client then the client has to re-download the files from the master.
Isn't such a thing pretty dangerous? As you need to make sure that you do not affect any running tasks where the change of the file would case the keyspace to be wrong (either too small or too large). I see that there might be uses for this, but unexperienced users would more likely have trouble than benefit from this. I think doing it automatically can be dangerous, but I have nothing against having also added as API feature (so you can trigger it via script).
I'm happy to have it scriptable via an api. I haven't looked at the api yet, when implemented maybe I can just tack the call onto the end of my script that updates the dictionaries.

In essense, files are imutable. Meaning they should not be changed after they are added. Best solution is to add a new 'version' of the wordlist.
How ever, as we are working on the new API. I will also make the rescan available through the new API.
