Please add more documentation around the registry API for providers

This page Hasnt been updated in a very long time

I'm stuck on an issue #2329

I suspect I might be able to resolve this with the API instead of the UX, but there is no documentation on how to delete/create/update or even interact with providers via the API at all.

I've yet to find a page that details the registry API in regards to providers.
