Footnotes are dropped

Current Behavior

I noticed that footnotes from some blog posts are being discarded entirely, including the references to them. Examples of posts that have this problem:

  • https://www.benkuhn.net/vcnet/
  • https://work.lisk.in/2020/07/18/font-weight-300.html

Expected Behavior

I'd love to be able to keep the footnotes in the epub.

Steps to reproduce

Build epub using those two blog posts, open it in any viewer and see that the footnotes and references to them are missing.
