Right now, the logic for handling which files are modified is a mess.

This may happen if the paletized image contains an alpha channel.

If one executes the demo project, goes to the "Show more backgrounds" option, then "Test window", then "Show more backgrounds" again, the second image appears corrupted; by elimination, it seems...
